At All Star, we believe in working with our birth families from day one. Since many children in foster care have the goal of returning home, we prioritize building strong, respectful partnerships with birth families to support healing and reunification.
We see our birth families as a vital part of a child’s life—and our team. That means sharing information, making decisions together, and focusing on the child’s safety, well-being, and long-term success.
We strive to be a supportive partner in reunifying families. Many families face big challenges like past negative experiences, stigma, mental health or substance use issues, lack of transportation, and limited resources. We approach these challenging situations with empathy, respect, and a trauma-informed lens.
Research shows that when birth families feel heard and supported, children do better. They’re more emotionally stable, reunification happens more quickly, and families are stronger together.
Our foster parents and staff are committed to honest, consistent communication and to honoring your voice and goals. We aim to create a space where you feel safe, empowered, and part of the team working for your child’s success.
Here’s how we support birth family engagement:
Fostering healthy relationships between foster and birth parents
Improving and supporting meaningful family time
Providing inclusive, trauma-informed clinical services
Hosting collaborative family team meetings
